The catchment area for the proposed area is selected considering the availability of raw material for processing in the Park. The units would be requiring the process able produces as & when required by them for processing. The cold storage would be provided for storing of produces till the time of processing. The CPC would be storing primarily fresh produces of perishable commodities.
Fresh produce (fruits & vegetables) requires high humidity for proper storage and up keep. Various fruits require different temperatures & humidity for keeping them in the desired condition. Cold storage facility shall increase the shelf life of food items as well slow down the growth process of aerobic organisms in the food items.
The Hi-Tech Cold Storage of 2500 MT capacity will be available in the CPC of the Mega Food Park with loading and unloading
facilities for movement of goods in and out of the cold storage to the processing units.
Warehouses are commercial buildings for storage of goods. Warehouse are mainly used by manufacturers for storing their goods (non perishable as well finished), wholesalers, transport business, customs etc. They come equipped with loading docks to load and unload trucks. Modern machines like forklifts are present in warehouses for easy movement of goods in and out of the warehouse. The warehouse would have modern facilities for handling as well as for storing raw materials and finished goods. Warehouse facilities for raw material and finished products are provided separately in the Park as a part of Common facilities. The storage capacity of warehouse is 5000 MT.
Forklifts and material handling equipments shall be used for loading and unloading activities and handling of material in the cold storage and warehouse.
Food Testing Laboratory with advance equipments will be available for the food processing units in the park.
Common packaging facilities for the food processing units in the park will be available. This facility will be provided for the Rice Milling units for the packing of the rice in capacity of 1 kg to 10 Kg bags for the retail market. For this purpose a 2 ton per hour line will be set up in the CPC with color sorter. This packaging machine will ensure the tight packing along with the safety and the accuracy minimizing the wastage and the manpower.
Research and development facilities for the development and improvement in the food products will be there in the Park.
Transport/commercial vehicles will be provided at CPC for the transport of raw material and finished products as required in the CPC.
The sole objective of this process is to adhere to quality criteria. Various produce of varied quality would reach the PPC. After the weighing and unloading are done, the product reaches the specified sorting area. The Produce shall then be sorted to ascertain the right quality of produce to be sent to CPC. It is also essential that produce be sorted according to varied requirements of the units. The raw materials which do not confer to that quality norms set by individual units shall be kept aside.
The same produce of similar quality may be required by two units. But some other differentiating parameters like size may be set by different units. The grading activity will be responsible to differentiate the raw produce according to such parameters. The size is the most vital grading parameter. Thus processable inputs can be segregated. The produce for table purpose is to be set aside for retail sale or as may be decided by the assigned authority. This complete process will be done manually at the PPC with
the help of Tables.
RRipening chambers at CPC/PPC locations shall be developed considering the availability of potential raw material i.e. Mango, Banana, Papaya etc. in the vicinity of these locations.
